An accurate look at the Windows desktop application and the separate web prototype. Every milestone is labelled by what has actually been built, tested and approved. This page is not a software download portal.
RELEASE GATENo approved public Windows installer is available.
The latest Stage 2 development candidate passed tests but has not replaced the working installation. Final Windows Python 3.12 acceptance and geometry verification are still required.
DESKTOP / UI DEVELOPMENT
Current six-stage programme
Stage 3 · in progress
Professional design workspace
The desktop team is improving the real drawing, 3D and flat-pattern screens, with better dimension editing, model interaction, clarity of bend data and smoother transitions. Existing fabrication functions must be retained. Stage 3 is not yet complete or independently accepted.
Development test evidence: 237 automated tests passed (171 Norman application and 66 UI/profile library). These results describe the development candidate — not a fully accepted Windows installer.
Stage 1 · candidate complete
Modern desktop UI and larger section library
Navy-and-cyan layout, updated workspace and navigation, keyboard shortcuts, safer switching, and a searchable library adding 180 editable section profiles to 130 retained original presets.
310 templates are starting points, not 310 user-created saved profiles.
Stages 4–6 · pending
Remaining programme stages
Three further stages are planned, but their detailed scope has not yet been confirmed in the website handover. Stage completion does not automatically imply production approval.
CAPABILITY & VALIDATION
What the Windows source includes
Gutters, corners, downpipes, outlets, transitions, custom drawing, saved jobs, DXF export and other sheet-metal functionality are reported present. Geometry/exporter source has been preserved through the UI work.
Implemented
Functionality reported in development source, not necessarily approved in an installed build.
Candidate tested
237 automated tests passed in the latest reported Stage 2 environment.
Not yet certified
Windows Python 3.12 acceptance, consolidated application release, representative flat-pattern and DXF validation.
SEPARATE / NORMAN ONLINE
Private browser preview
An experimental 2D open-polyline sketcher is available to approved testers behind server-side sign-in. Users can edit point coordinates, save sketches locally and export prototype DXF, SVG and JSON files. It is not the Norman desktop geometry engine, does not calculate validated bends and must not be used as the sole basis for manufacture.
A consolidated installer must preserve saved jobs, existing tools and launch location; pass Windows acceptance and regression testing; be reviewed for DXF/flat-pattern correctness; and be explicitly approved for distribution. Until then no Stage ZIP packages, test code or manufacturing-ready claims are being published.
Last documented handover: . Future updates require a verified desktop development handover.
